Life in Hungary- Grocery Shopping

I am really bad at updating the blog about differences between America and Hungary. Well one thing I have learned the most is to enjoy cooking but having the recipe as just a framework. Good cheese is a rare thing here in Hungary, well at least it is very expensive.

Buying cheddar cheese is a treat, you can see why.

This block of cheese cost me about $3.50

Eggs are not white like in America. Most common is Medium size, and they are brown outsides and the yolk is much more orange. Well Eggs come in cartons of 10 not a dozen.


Milk comes in a carton. What was new to me is that shelf milk is very common here. At first I was disgusted at this, but one day we ran out and I needed milk and shelf milk was my only choice. I used it and I couldn't really tell a difference.
